Strong Possibilities
These are new tracks that have been played live (or soundchecked) in the past two years, mostly played live by Thom at solo shows or during interludes in the middle of Atoms For Peace gigs.
“The Daily Mail”
Cambridge Corn Exchange, February 25th, 2010
Originally titled “A Pig’s Ear,” the “The Daily Mail” was probably written some time in 2004. The band had been rehearsing the track in September of 2005 but it didn’t make its life debut until February 25th, 2010 at Thom’s solo gig for the benefit of the Green Party at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge.
Check out the version in which Thom is backed by Atoms For Peace, in Boston:
“Give Up The Ghost”
Cambridge Corn Exchange, February 25th, 2010
Here’s another track debuted at the Green Party benefit. It’s only been played a few times.
“I Froze Up”
Cambridge Corn Exchange, February 25th, 2010
“I Froze Up” was birthed in 2002 during the Hail to the Thief sessions. Bits of it were played during Radiohead’s fourth webcast on December 18th, 2002 and it’s lyrics have been spotted on art on Dead Air Space from 2005-2006. More recently Thom played this track solo at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.
“Let Me Take Control” (aka Chris Hodge)
Roseland Ballroom, NYC, April 5th, 2010
“Let Me Take Control” debuted April 5th, 2010 at the Atoms For Peace show at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. This was the first show of the US Atoms For Peace tour. It was played again on April 10th, 2010 in Chicago.
“Lotus Flower” (aka Moon Upon A Stick)
Orpheum Theatre, LA, October 5th, 2009
“Lotus Flower” is another one of the tracks that Thom debuted during the Atoms For Peace tour. As part of the first encore break he would come out for two or three solo tracks on either guitar or piano. Our preferred version is from the Orpheum show. Check it out below.
“Mouse Bird Dog”
Cambridge Corn Exchange, February 25th, 2010
Another track only played at the Green Party benefit…
