of Montreal announce new album for early-2012

In an interview with Pitchfork yesterday, of Montreal frontman Kevin Barnes was not shy about speaking of his current recording project: a new of Montreal album. The singer is putting the finishing touches on the LP at his Apollinaire Rave studio in Athens, GA and is set for an early-2012 release via long-time label Polyvinyl Records. Barnes spoke about the effort, stating that he has drawn inspiration from modern classical music, but that “it’s still very much a colorful pop record.” The record even has a title: Paralytic Stalks.

In other of Montreal news, the band is releasing a cassette retrospective on October 25th via Joyful Noise. The collection is limited to 500 copies, containing all ten full-length of Montreal releases on cassette, stored in a custom-built box. Can’t name the ten of Montreal albums off the top of your hear?
