Dubstep prodigy James Blake has been garnering praise ever since his wildly ambitious CMYK EP earlier this year, a mix of samples and amazing production on Blake’s behalf. But his latest EP, entitled Klavierwerke, is a much more controlled and introverted recording, reflecting Blake as a songwriter as much as a producer.
And now with his debut LP approaching, Blake will be releasing the first single off the yet-to-be-named album on November 8th via ATLAS records. And for those listeners who passively took a chance on “CMYK” and didn’t exactly fall in love, this cover of Feist’s “Limit to You Love” will most likely change your mind. Placing his vocals squarely at the center of the track is a complete 180 from his earlier material, but Blake’s production eventually shines when half way through the cover a bellowing bass line and glitchy synth erupt beneath his dulcet tones. I highly recommend this one for fans of electro and indie alike. [via].
