LA artist Miss Machina has a rare gift for making breakup songs truly memorable by adding cinematic imagery. Her new single “Talk” compares the antics of a creepy ex to some of the celebrated movie stalkers (like the guy who terrorized Neve Campbell in Scream).
The new single’s clever lyrics are enhanced by a fabulous melody that has a Caroline Polachek vibe.
Commenting on the new release, Miss M says, “‘Talk’ at its core is about a relationship that just won’t end. You continue to run in circles and keep calling that person back because you just can’t release them. It’s about pointing fingers and trying to justify who’s the “bad guy,” who’s the villain. I think on a deeper level the irony of the song is that in every breakup we play the victim and the villain. It’s never one-sided and simple. And that’s why we can’t just hang up and run away.”
She’s putting the final touches on her debut album that drops next year.
