Australian pop-R&B writer, singer and producer Milan Ring is having a strong year, with the release of “BS” earlier in 2021 and now her latest, “Hide With You”, each showing her growth. On the new one, she says:
“‘Hide With You’ is about the search for freedom; hoping that one day, in the vastness of space & time, we find it together. This is a song I hold very dear to my heart and has provided great healing for me. I hope that it may do the same for others also.”
While the song is about wanting to “Hide With You”, Milan doesn’t just want to go into some cave away from the world – she wants to escape out into it, become just faces in the crowd, enjoying all that life offers. The production on the track emphasises this, with the verses featuring tastefully quiet beats-and-piano to complement her worries about her partner’s depression. She flips the script in the chorus, lifting it into a solar powered bop with silky smooth melodies accentuating her desire to “hide with you / out there in endless space.” The song then goes on to incorporate choral singing, rapping, and Milan just belting out her desire – a natural and powerful example of all she can do.
