Micro Talk loom in ceaseless metamorphosis on “Particles Scatter”

Micro Talk is a project between the artist/producer duo of Nana Adjoa and Tim Schakel, borne out of necessity to experiment without specific ambitions in mind. That giddy feeling of jumping without caring where you land is quite palpable on “Particles Scatter”, a captivating motorik-driven track that sounds as if you’re traveling through an intergalactic wormhole.

According to the duo, the song was initially meant to appear on a score for a Dutch short film called War Save Me by Jelmer Wristers. The drum takes for that recording were repurposed to compose “Particles Scatter”. “The original idea was inspired by krautrock bands such as NEU!”, Adjoa comments via email. “But we decided to go in a different direction. Lighter, more spacious and dreamier, with warm synth basses (MS10+Prophet08) in combination with guitar melodies, sweet piano chords, and acoustic guitars.”

Micro Talk’s upcoming EP – out somewhere this year on Bloomer Records – was inspired in part by the existential musings of the famous Danish poet and philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. “It’s quite complicated, but also a lot of fun to dive into and talk about together. “Particles Scatter” is the final track of the EP; the song addresses the possibility of freedom when you have just let go of everything, your strategy in life, and what you hold onto. It’s not a reward, but more about going into a different state.”

Schakel and Adjoa have previously released the 2019 EP Expanding Dark under the Micro Talk-umbrella. Last year, Nana Adjoa released her excellent debut LP Big Dreaming Ants, which you can order via Bandcamp.
