Maren Morris is (to my ears) the best singer in all of pop today. If her recent single “carry me through” doesn’t convince you, take a listen to “Welcome To The End” – Maren’s new collab with producer Jack Antonoff that’s the second track on All Things Go’s charity compilation album benefiting Antonoff’s The Ally Coalition. The nonprofit strives to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ youth through tours, campaigns and partnerships. The new single is an ode to resilience, with a chorus that’s drenched in soaring wall-of-sound harmonies.
“‘Welcome to The End’ is a song about the mental sacrifices you’ll make to achieve your dream,” says Morris. “It’s not a straight or pretty path to get there, but your own resilience can surprise you. I’m so happy we can devote its release and message to The Ally Coalition as well as to my friend and collaborator Jack Antonoff’s initiative to help integrate recording studios into LGBTQ+ youth shelters.”
Morris has no competition when it comes to delivering emotion and authenticity at the intersection of pop, country and R&B. Several years ago, she thumbed her nose at the conservative country establishment, yet her career continues to reach new heights.
