This kind of thing happens from time to time, whether it’s as small as joining Cloud Cult or as large as fronting Aerosmith. Sometimes band’s go public with their search for a new member, but rarely is it a band at their commercial and creative peak like M83 is, so, for the right person, this could really be the chance of a lifetime.
M83 has taken to their website to seek help for their upcoming world tour. As posted on the site, M83 seeks “a multi-instrumentalist based in the Los Angeles area who can play Guitar, Bass and Keyboards. They should also be able to sing and ideally have previous knowledge of working with Ableton.” For those who are oblivious (as I just was moments ago), Ableton is a computer program used for making loops and beat-matching.
Other requirements for applicants include either U.S. citizenship or a work visa, a Youtube audition tape, and filling out a form here. The band also requires 12 months of availability, indicating that we might be getting to see live M83 until the end of 2012. Of course, it is doubtful that you will be able to record with the band, as they have already completed their double album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, which is due out on October 18th via Mute.
