Throughout pop music history, there have been singers with instantly hypnotic voices – from Karen Carpenter in the 70s to Lorde and Minke today. You can add the name of LA artist Jacqueline Hynes, aka Lyncs, to that list. Lyncs’ voice adds warmth and believability to every syllable – and it’s on full display in the title song from her new EP SICK + SIN.
The crown jewel of the new collection is “If I Lose You I Lose Everything”, perhaps this year’s finest ballad. The song is primal and powerful – the essence of what a love lament should be. [Note to music supervisors: this song feels like the perfect closing-credits track for a movie or streaming episode.]
Another EP highlight is “Nothing With You”, an irresistible rock anthem that feels destined to be played at Lollapalooza and Glastonbury.
