Low’s Alan Sparhawk announces solo album with the glitched-up nightmare “Can U Hear”

Alan Sparhawk of Low will release his debut solo album White Roses, My God on 27 September through Sub Pop. It is his first release since the passing of his partner in life and in Low, Mimi Parker.

The news is heralded by lead single “Can U Hear” and its video directed by Rick Alverson.

While Low had played with more electronic effects on their latter albums, “Can U Hear” marks a dive right into the pool of digital manipulation for Sparhawk. A deep, undulating groove support his voice, is warped and high-pitched beyond recognition. This makes his words hard to comprehend – but his voice still transmits primal feelings like exhaustion and fear, which are amplified in the equally glitched-up video. It is certainly an intriguing way to introduce this new chapter in Sparhawk’s career – and one we can’t wait to hear more of.

Watch the video for “Can U Hear” below or find the song on streamers.
