LA multitalent frogi sacrifices false grace to remain herself on “Fake It”

Why all the pressure to keep looking perfectly balanced? Veritably none of us are, but we also know, all too well, that sharing a bit too much of what we’re going through will end up with us sitting alone.

L.A. singer/writer/producer frogi takes on this very same universal absurdity via her latest single, “Fake It”. She says:

“I wanted to convey the sadness of something ending, but also the beauty of a new beginning. My husband (VAAAL) is actually playing live drums on it, as well as acoustic guitar that I recorded on a voice memo on my phone. I like the realness I captured and the raw room sounds. The song is about growing up in a place where you don’t fit in, and not compromising your uniqueness just to conform. I think it’s an interesting concept, and I often wonder how much of ourselves we hide just to feel a part of.”

Seemingly just having exposed perhaps a bit too much of herself for a standard listening audience, she quietly sings, “Stay here, I’ll go home without you / You have way more friends than I do.”

So long as we’re being honest, it’s something we can all relate to, whether from actual experience of bearing a bit too much of our soul – or simply from having repressed the very same at a time when it hurt to do so.

We could all use a bit more of that honesty. It’s no small thing that frogi is offering us a bit of it. Check “Fake It” out below or on streaming platforms.
