Jónsi always seems to be busy, whether it’s with Sigur Rós, working on his liminal soundbaths, or featuring on others’ tracks. But he has now revealed that he will be releasing a new solo record – his first in a decade – later this year. It’s called Shiver, was produced by A.G. Cook, has features from Liz Fraser (Cocteau Twins) and Robyn, and is coming out on October 2.
The first track shared from the record is called “Swill” and is an immediately breathtaking balance between Jónsi’s usual delicacy and some harsher string samples. The whole mix is made more impactful as its underpinned by industrial-size booms, giving “Swill” a monstrous size despite its peaceful and loving message. It’s one to invest yourself in.
