Jessica Winter is ready for her close up on “L.O.V.E.”

For a performer who has yet to release a debut album, bespectacled UK artist Jessica Winter’s career is blowing up thanks to her latest single “L.O.V.E.”. The song is inventive and whimsical, employing a fab string section and perhaps this year’s most singable outro.

In the song’s video, Winter’s charisma is on full display as she poses for photos in a style inspired by Mariel Hemingway’s character in the 1980s cult film Star 80 directed by Bob Fosse.

“I wrote this song a year before realising I was a codependent,” says Winter. “Sometimes my music knows more than I do. I wanted to capture the feeling of being infatuated at the beginning of the song, but by the end it inevitably falls deeper and finishes with soaring strings – the sound of falling in love to me. Spelling out the word sounds so innocent and it is. I’m just breaking it down to try and understand it.”

In addition to her solo projects, Winter has an extensive list of credits as a co-writer and producer, having collaborated with artists like Jazmin Bean and Walt Disco.

“L.O.V.E.” is a Winter’s tale you won’t want to miss.
