Jax Hollow is iconic on “Sycamore St”

Most artists would kill to have the guitar prowess of Nashville blues/rock artist Jax Hollow. But her talent doesn’t stop there. Her singing and songwriting are also stellar on the brand-new album Come Up Kid, which features the song “Sycamore St” that’s right up there with the best of Rosanne Cash and Bonnie Raitt.

Jax has definitely experienced the peaks and valleys of the music biz. After her impressive debut at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium, she actually became homeless for a while.

“It all started when Melissa Etheridge asked me to open for her at the historic Ryman Auditorium,” says Jax. “After my set, the pews started to shake. People were standing, applauding, and I fell to my knees. For the first time in my life, it felt like my dreams were coming true. But soon after that incredible day, I found myself living out of my car. Sleeping with my head in the trunk and feet in the cabin. I had a choice to make: do I call it quits or double down?

“For an entire year I wrote songs like it was my religion. I spent every penny I had on studio time and connecting with the best session players, engineers, and studios that Nashville has to offer. “Come Up Kid” is the culmination of that dedication. Writing these songs gave me strength, courage and brutal honesty.”

Many musicians would have packed up and headed back to Massachusetts after what Jax endured. Fortunately, she has the tenacity to match her incredible talent.
