Jamila pushes all the right buttons on “Silver Lining”

Swiss-Palestinian artist Jamila has a new single called “Silver Lining” that will remind you of a more energetic Holly Humberstone or Lizzy McAlpine. Even though the video for the song was shot in an elevator, this isn’t “elevator music” because it features a hooky melody and shimmering vocals.

Jamila co-produced the single, and it’s clear she has a knack for studio subtlety a la The Japanese House.

“‘Silver Lining’ is a song for everyone who’s ever been lost in the magic of a crush,” says Jamila.

The artist has notched some impressive career milestones, like performing at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. You could hear her potential in last year’s “17” – a moody masterpiece with a majestic bridge that melts into a haunting piano outro.

“Silver Lining” (literally) captures the ups and downs of a chance encounter that turns into infatuation. Jamila has the talent to take this elevator to the pop penthouse.
