Genre-mangling newcomer TENCHPRESS shares industrial bliss jam “Eclegma” ahead of debut album

TENCHPRESS is a mysterious new project hailing from Leeds, who will be releasing their debut album, Engine Common, this Friday, December 11. It’s an album that was apparently “created with little more than Avon moxy and The Worst Microphone In Britain.”

That moxy has certainly yielded a beguiling and fascinating result, as evidenced by the album’s lead single and opening track “Eclegma”, which is available to stream now. Lurching forward on burping and bubbling electronics that curdle around an industrial beat, TENCHPRESS immediately grab your attention on “Eclegma”, and do not let it go. With the addition of monochrome and sardonic lyrics, we’re pulled deeper into the creator’s bizarre – possibly psychotic – mind, where he relates several unusual interactions. “Eclegma” takes some sonic diversions into Oneohtrix Point Never-esque realms of blissful otherwordliness, before thundering back into its metallically zombified groove. TENCHPRESS moves imperiously back and forth through these different gears, shifting this imposing force of a song forward for five startling minutes.

You can listen to “Eclegma” below or on your preferred streaming platform.

TENCHPRESS’ debut album Engine Common comes out this Friday, December 11 (pre-order through Bandcamp). You can find the project on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
