There are some pop artists who write superb melodies as easily as they take in oxygen: The 1975, The Aces, Fickle Friends, etc. You can now add Frank Ivy’s name to that select list, thanks to his delectable new single “Higher Dimension”.
SF Bay Area artist Frank Rosato swapped his last name to become Frank Ivy a few years ago. His music is sometimes described as psychedelic pop or lofi haze, but that doesn’t truly give it justice. Ivy’s new single actually reminds me of some of the all-time melody masters, like 80s greats Sparks and Elton John.
Here’s how Ivy summarizes his previous single “New State Of Mind”: “The song is a hopeful and exciting uptempo record about moving on from the past and not letting anything hold you back. We zoom out and start thinking about fate, purpose and the perception of time.”
Ivy’s song “Dance Around The Fire” has crossed the prestigious 10 million streams mark. That song was penned when Ivy was still lead vocalist for Bay Area band Why These Coyotes.
