Destroyer is releasing a new album called Labyrinthitis on March 25, and following lead single “Tintoretto, It’s For You” he has today shared a new jam called “Eat The Wine, Drink The Bread”.
While “Tintoretto” was definitely an impressionist track that left much up to the imagination, “Eat the Wine, Drink the Bread” is a straight-up dance track, with myriad infectious rhythms from the guitar and percussion wiggling together into a downright floor-filler. That makes Dan Bejar’s self-observing pontifications hit all the more hilariously, as he casually discusses pissing on the floor and occasionally returns to the refrain “I don’t know where I’m going” – perhaps he’s getting a bit senile? Regardless, he seems perfectly content to stand on the side, watching the bouncing bodies, eating the wine and drinking the bread.
Listen to “Eat the Wine, Drink the Bread” below or on streaming platforms.
Destroyer’s new album Labyrinthitis arrives on March 25 through Merge / Bella Union (pre-order/save). You can find Destroyer on Facebook and Instagram.
