CLAY simmers across the rhythmic, controlled chaos of “Numb”

LA-based artist CLAY has gradually been building hype, and now she’s preparing to release her second EP, Breathing Into Bloom. The queer artist is unafraid of delving into the iciest of emotions, and her latest offering, “Numb”, is the perfect example of just that.

Opening with a deceptive serenity, the track is quickly consumed by her vibrato, and the starkest of assertions: “I don’t feel a thing.” Most strikingly, during the chorus, her own filtered voice back up her singing, creating a veritable maze of all-consuming vocals.

Speaking on the track, she shares, “I had the line ‘my blood drips green’ for months, and then this song poured out. A song about feeling nothing in a world of constant overstimulation and overconsumption. A world that’s slowly dying as a result.
