LA artist Cate Selna should market her new song โmy wayโ as an anti-depressant because itโs like opening a bottle of celestial sunlight. Itโs one of the gems on Selnaโs new EP currency.
Selnaโs soaring harmonies have a Caroline Polachek vibe โ radiant and liberating. She offers a balance to the likes of Ethel Cain, who write dark songs that last eight minutes; Cateโs compositions are cheery and often under two minutes.
โโmy wayโ started years ago as a simple question I kept asking myself โ when or if Iโd ever feel grounded and sure in my own process,โ says Selna. โI wrote it on guitar, consumed by a constant search for answers. Over time, I translated it into an electric space โexperimenting with synths on my laptop at home in LA โ and finally finished it in Highland Park with my producer and friend Justin Kohlberg. It became a song about trusting the motion of figuring it out while youโre in it.โ
