Last month, several media outlets picked up a hint of Björk and Michel Gondry news, which had people writing, “We don’t know what’s going on with those two, but clearly they’re up to something.” It was enough to generate excitement about the two artists, both of whom go into extreme hibernation for long periods of time.
Finally, the truth comes out: Gondry and Björk are planning to collaborate on a short musical of a “scientific” nature. “We have a very ambitious project, a sort of scientific musical,” Gondry told The Playlist. “[It’s a movie], but maybe more for museums. Like a 40 minute IMAX project in 3D.”
The pair are longtime collaborators, having worked together on some of the most innovative music videos of Björk’s career. The Icelandic avant-pop queen may have rejected Charlotte Gainsbourg’s role in The Science of Sleep, but this seems like a good, logical next step for these iconoclasts.
