Alissa Moreno is a Nashville songwriter who has penned country hits and released many critically acclaimed albums. But her resilience was put to the test one year ago when her Nashville home burned to the ground.
That’s why the lyrics in her new single “Wildfires” are so heartfelt and poignant: “We survive, we get by, we take the hit and we learn to fight / We collide, but we don’t die trying to put out wildfires.”
Ironically, the song was written long before last year’s fire, back when Alissa was a struggling artist in Los Angeles. The single is one of the highlights of Moreno’s latest EP, produced by Grammy nominee Neilson Hubbard. There’s also an album in progress, due later this year.
Like Aimee Mann, Moreno has the soul of a true artist, regardless of genre. In addition to co-writing Rascal Flatts’ soaring and inspirational “Every Day”, she once took a song spurned by Music Row and turned it into a global reggae hit.
