Beats Per Minute (formerly One Thirty BPM) is a New York and Los Angeles-based online publication dedicated to bringing you the latest in reviews, news, media, interviews, features, and more from both the independent and mainstream spheres of the music world. Beats Per Minute covers a wide variety of genres but specializes in rock, hip hop, and electronic music, offering critical analysis without the elitism that permeates many other sites.
Founded in late 2008 as a five-man operation, Beats Per Minute has since expanded to a staff of over 50 contributors based in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, and Germany.
Beats Per Minute is a featured publication on Metacritic.
We have also been cited on: Chicagoist, Exclaim!, FACT Mag, Forbes, The Guardian, Kotaku, NME, NY Mag, Onion’s AV Club, Paste, Pitchfork, Prefixmag, Rolling Stone’s Rock Daily, Spinner, Stereogum, Tiny Mix Tapes, the Washington City Paper’s Black Plastic Bag, and Wired.
The Beats Per Minute logo was originally created by Lila Farias for the Android app Mobile Metronome and revised by Evan Kaloudis.
