Vancouver-based lo-fi pop collective Katie and the Lichen are getting ready to release their sixth album of eclectic autoharp and ukulele augmented indie pop. Yours Truly is set to come out May 18th on Lost Sound Tapes, with a vinyl release soon thereafter. The band, coming off of a 2011/2012 tour with K Records founder Calvin Johnson, is gearing for another round of touring across Canada and the US with fellow Vancouver residents ok vancouver ok. If you heard over to the band’s Bandcamp page, you can hear three songs from Yours Truly about a month early. Among them is “Wasteland,” a memorably lo-fi chunk of pop precision which shows that the band has a knack for understanding the mechanics of shimmering melodies and deceptively simple instrumentation.
