After M.I.A released her latest album Kala she faced hard depression and thought about retiring over the summer. But now M.I.A is back in the studio and possibly working on new material for a new album.
Thoughts of retiring came about when she discovered she was pregnant (possibly with twins):
“I’ve got two kids, that’s what it feels like. When I found out I was pregnant and ‘Paper Planes’ was in the iTunes Top 10 it seemed like the whole world was reshuffled in one week, and all my plans went out the window. And that’s the lesson: you can’t make plans, and you can’t say shit.”
The city of Baltimore is one of the reasons for her career to continue. Baltimore’s clubs were also the main influence for her lastest album Kala. M.I.A just recorded a cover of Tom Waits “Way Downs in the Hole,” the theme song for the Baltimore based HBO show; The Wire.
No details were revealed on when the cover would be released, but we’ll keep you posted.
