Below we have the first single from Death Songs’ upcoming self-titled EP, titled “Ophelia.” The work of singer/songwriter Nick Delffs (The Shaky Hands), the project seeks not so much to focus on the darker aspects of death, but, rather, to celebrate life. “Ophelia” manages to do just that, striking an emotional chord with its brisk intensity, but never taking matters too far. When the percussion kicks in near the end, it is not like a slap in the face, but, rather, a natural progression that leaves the listener thinking, “of course that is how the song needs to finish.”
