Every summer, music festivals take over Canada. Although Bluesfest just ended this week, another one is set to start next weekend. Osheaga music festival takes place in Montreal’s beautiful Parc Jean-Drapeau and lasts for two days. The website explains the festival in more detail:
The artist line-up was designed to present a mix of today’s most avant-garde emerging artists juxtaposed against those internationally known artists who appeal to the most discerning music lover. The festival founders also sought to provide fans with an unparalleled experience by offering them the best music, the best food and concessions, an eco-conscious approach, and by limiting the corporate presence to those who contribute to the spirit of the festival.
In past years, bands on the bill have included Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, Lykke Li, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Devotchka, Iggy and the Stooges, The Killers, Broken Social Scene and many more impressive names. This year’s lineup stacks up in comparison as well. With names like Arcade Fire, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Sonic Youth, Kele, as well as many more, this festival’s lineup appears to have something for everyone.
The festival begins July 31st and continues through to August 1st, featuring nights in the city to keep music lovers happy all day and night. For information and to buy tickets, click here.
