PinkPantheress has released “Angel”, her contribution to the absolutely stacked Barbie the Album, from Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming Barbie movie.
“Angel” finds PinkPantheress slowing down the beats a little so she can get a bit more intimate, dreaming of the one that got away; how they used share their lives and interlock their fingers. Then, the most unexpected but great part: fiddles! Amplifying the country-style longing of the track, the strings rise and doodle through the atmosphere underlining PinkPantheress’ sadness at being ghosted. It shouldn’t work, but PinkPantheress makes it work – no wonder she can toss off a line like “everyone told me life was hard but it’s a piece of cake” without a second care.
