Peach Baby are a three-headed beast from Malmö, comprising Moa McAllister, Elenoor Rovers and Judith Stocks, who are each singers and songwriters in their own right. Having initially started out as SaidArtch, they rebranded as Peach Baby in 2018 and have steadily grown their sound with purpose. They say:
“We were thinking about the concept of rock and who it belongs to. The idea was to try to make it our own. How do three different singers start a rock band? It began as three people playing together and became three leaders playing together.”
That dynamism and determination can be heard in spades on new single “Exclusive”. They set their intentions out immediately, with a devilishly hummed melody followed by the opening line: “My love is exclusive / It’s all about what I want.” That magnetic confidence remains throughout the track, which features a crawling, menacing vocal melody that is perfectly supported by a gliding, deep blue guitar line, adding heft to the whole situation. Peach Baby keep us on our toes, one minute luring us in with tempting harmonies and seductive tones, the next pushing us back with a bluster of guitar in the chorus, where they emphasise their independence with powerful words surrounded by coils of harmonies. It’s a mighty fine display of personality, artistry and sheer self-confidence.
Peach Baby are building up to the release of their debut EP, Sensations, which will arrive later this year on Lazy Octopus. You can find the band on Facebook and Instagram.
