Led by singer and guitarist Dan Knishkowy, Adeline Hotel crafts gorgeous soft pop landscapes, punctuated by sparkling guitar tones and breezy harmonies. He also melds gentle psych-folk detours into the echo of blossoming indie rock rumblings, creating a sound that’s as welcoming as it is intensely personal. The band will release their latest record, Solid Love, on May 8 via Whatever’s Clever.
Aided by guitarist Ben Seretan, bassist Andrew Stocker, pianist Winston Cook-Wilson, drummer Sean Mullins, vocalists Brigid Mae Power and Matt Kivel, and a rotating cast of other guest musicians, the album feels much more collaborative than earlier Adeline Hotel releases. Reveling in frank discussions of intimacy and love, the songs on Solid Love are beguiling and function as a prism for the collective emotional perspectives of the band.
“Trace”, the second single from the record, finds Knishkowy channeling the country-pop spirits of Lambchop while indulging in some gauzy soft-rock ruminations. There’s a gentle grace and sway to the song, as if it were carried along by a breeze that just so happened to blow in through your window. There are also hints of a Gram Parsons-esque folk ramble entangled within the track’s DNA, with the latter half revealing a series of blooming guitar lines that speaks to the psych influences that Knishkowy carries with him at all times.
