LA-based Korean producer 박혜진 Park Hye Jin has had something of a breakout year with signing to Ninja Tune and releasing the impactful EP How can I back in the summer, which went on to be remixed by the likes of Blood Orange and Galcher Lustwerk.
Now she’s capping it off with a new song made in collaboration with fellow LA-based wiz Nosaj Thing, “Clouds”. A much more tranquil affair than the majority of How can I, it seems Nosaj’s natural chill has washed over Park on this outing. It still possesses a light techno burble that inclines you towards a swaying, lighthearted dance, but this is one that hits you in the head for the most part. The dreamy atmosphere pairs perfectly with Park’s rapping – in her native Korean – about floating up to the sky, escaping the trials of terrestrial life, and becoming one with the titular “Clouds”.
It’s a perfect way to cap off a big year for Park Hye Jin – but you suspect there’s even bigger things to come. You can listen to “Clouds” below or on your preferred streaming service.
“Clouds” is out now via Ninja Tune. You can follow Park Hye Jin on Facebook and Instagram, while Nosaj Thing is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
