Ty Segall has just released a teaser trailer full of new music from his forthcoming Drag City release Twins through the label’s Youtube channel. As bizarre as it sounds, this trailer contains brief movie clips from White Chicks, Lawnmower Man 2, and The Stupids set against snippets of songs from the record. It’s somewhat hard to describe the sensation of seeing Shawn and Marlon Wayans in drag mugging to the sounds of Segall’s garage rock. I think maybe you just need to watch it for yourself.
Plugging away since 1999, The National finally hit mainstream success with the release of their 2010 album High Violet. Of course, this entailed their first world tour, but in the new documentary Mistaken For Strangers, it’s only the backdrop for the relationship between lead singer Matt Berninger and his younger brother Tom, who had no idea that these short videos he was shooting would turn into a public document of their troubled, if still loving brotherhood.
