During Wilco’s tour through Australia, Fastlouder was able to catch up with bassist John Stirratt. He proceeded to explain that he thought Wilco (The Album) was “more abrasive” and that the next one will be a lot more “jarring.” Stirratt stated, “We are in writing mode and we start that and the demos in our space which is sounding better and better as a studio. We are going to record quite a bit over the summer. We’ll do it in Chicago and maybe towards the end we might get to another locale, hopefully in some warm weather environment a la New Zealand in January.” The band are currently finishing up a tour in Europe and LP8 sessions may be pushed back due to Jeff Tweedy working on a forthcoming Mavis Staples album. Don’t worry though, a new record from Wilco is definitely in the works.
In the mean time, Wilco will being playing a few more European shows in September. Also, they will be curating and performing at the 3-Day Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, MA beginning August 13th. Jeff Tweedy will be playing a few solo festival dates throughout the summer as well.
