Last week, Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson revealed that bandmate and renowned alt-rock producer Butch Vig would be producing the new Green Day album. We can now confirm this, as a video clip recently surfaced onto YouTube showing the band with Vig in the studio.
In the clip we see Vig flipping the camera off, then a shot of Green Day singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong playing around with a couple of new riffs. Vig is best known for his work on Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind.
The video also gives us a glimpse of two possible songs, although they are only the instrumental bits. The new album is scheduled for a 2009 release, and will be the follow up to their highly successful Grammy nominated 2004 album American Idiot album. You can see the new studio video clip below:
