A lot of times when a new album announcement comes around, gross hyperbole is displayed to try to convey added weight or importance to the upcoming release. But, with Bowerbirds, when words like “treasures” and “eternal” are used to describe their high points, well, we couldn’t agree more.
So, it is with great excitement that we announce Bowerbirds third album, The Clearing. The album promises to utilize expanded resources, both in production and instrumentation, to create something bigger and bolder than the band has ever created before. The album is also noteworthy for the surrounding elements that contributed to its making. One Bowerbird, Beth Tacular, nearly died from a mysterious illness. And, the two principals who make up the group (Tacular and Phil Moore) ended their romantic relationship that has been the core of the Bowerbirds project. However, this separation didn’t last and the couple rekindled something that was lost. Thus, The Clearing promises to be an album about moving forward through the darkness and to find something bright on the other side.
The Clearing will be released on March 6th via Dead Oceans and below we have a download of the album’s first track, “Tuck The Darkness In.” If the album is anywhere near as beautiful as this song, we are in for a treat.
