While at SXSW last week, we had the privilege to attend a showcase put on by We Listen For You (full review here). While every band that played was special, the big name act is the one that will probably live in the memory of most in attendance, and that was singer of of Montreal, Kevin Barnes. Barnes played an acoustic set that featured “Everyday Feels Like Sunday” from The Sunlandic Twins, a couple of interestingly reworked songs from Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? and a cover.
The good guys over at Backseat Sandbar were on hand to record the whole show, and we thought we’d share one of the videos with you. It is a cover of “What Have They Done To My Song, Ma,” originally performed by Melanie Safka and made famous by The New Seekers in the 70s.
Check the video below, and if you want to see/hear those acoustic versions of “Everyday Feels Like Sunday,” “Suffer For Fashion” and “She’s A Rejector” (as well as videos of all the other acts that played) then head over to Backseat Sandbar’s YouTube page.
