Bob Dylan’s newly released video for second single “Duquesne Whistle”, from his upcoming album Tempest, follows the initially hangdog romanticism of a young man trying to impress the girl that he likes but soon turns into a darker, more violent sequence of events that leads to the young man’s kidnapping and beating at the hands of a nameless group of Goodfellas-esque heavies. After his first tease for the album with “Early Roman Kings” seemed to be almost too indebted to old blues tropes to be called an original song, “Duquesne Whistle” has perked up my interest in this record. It’s good to have you back Bob.
