It’s been nearly impossible to keep Real Estate, or the band members various side projects off my playlist, as someone seems drop new material every week. This time around I’ve been hooked on the (old) new solo project from Real Estate lead singer Martin Courtney IV.

MP3: Pario Marty – “I Will Be”

The album is entitled The Black Hole of Fun and the material is actually a reissue of his solo bedroom recordings from years back. “I Will Be” is a hypnotically relaxing song, guided by a simple guitar rhythm throughout, and complimented perfectly by Courtney’s mellow tones. There’s a bit of an awkward percussion build towards the end of the track, a progression that would probably make more sense in context of the whole album. But “I Will Be” is an outstanding track for a solo project, a fully realized song that sounds warm and fuzzy, perfectly at home in the Real Estate family tree of albums.
