When you hear that Deerhunter’s Lockett Pundt has a new album coming out under the Lotus Plaza banner, the hope is that the record reaches some of the heights that the guitarist/singer has achieved with Deerhunter. Under that lens, “Strangers” is smashingly successful, with a driving drum beat, memorable melody, and enough left-of-the-center weirdness to keep the listener’s mind from wandering.
