Ahead of Yaya Bey‘s forthcoming album Ten Fold (due 10 May), the R&B storyteller releases one final song, “me and all my n****s”, which addresses the strength and resilience of her community. The video, directed by Chassidy David and choreographed by Bey, is a stylistic nod to the artists’s late father Ayyub Cave, better known as the rapper Grand Daddy I.U.: “this video is an ode to my dad and his style from his first album.”
Like with previous singles “chasing the bus“, “sir princess bad bitch” and “crying through my teeth“, “me and all my n****s” relates to the larger theme of Ten Fold – as the press release states, “bringing her unadulterated truth to the forefront, with the faith that music is her calling and that the world will receive her truth and she’ll reap the fruits of her and her family’s labour tenfold.” It’s an album grounded in daily realities and fully attuned with Yaya Bey’s blossoming artistic voice.
