One of the talks of this year’s SXSW was the band Wild Flag, which features the majority of Slaeter-Kinney (Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss) along with Mary Timony and Rebecca Cole. And, though they have made a name for themselves without a proper album, it only seemed like a matter of time until that would all change. Alas, today we have information on their debut album.
Self-titled Wild Flag, the debut record for the Portland, OR four-piece will hit shelves on September 13th on the always-reputable Merge Records. The effort was recorded in April of 2011 in Sacramento, California with engineer Chris Woodhouse at the Hangar. All tracks were recorded live except for the vocals.
The group will also hit the road this fall and we have the tour dates below. Check them out in your town, or, uh, in someone else’s town. Wherever.
