Weezer and The Flaming Lips to play the same stage at the same time

I’ve never considered making a playlist that alternates between Weezer and Flaming Lips songs, and thinking about it, it doesn’t sound like it’d work that well – although it would by no means be terrible either. People attending Holmdel, New Jersey’s PNC Bank Arts Center or Wantagh, New York’s Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on July 28th or 29th respectively will get to find out what it’s like, but live!

The two bands will both set up all their gear on the stages on both nights, and trade off playing songs, maybe not alternating one at a time, but switching every few songs. Details on what else could happen between the bands are still to be confirmed, but Rivers Cuomo says that he “asked Wayne if he has an extra bubble [he] could ride in,” which gives you an idea of the other levels of collaboration the two bands may go for.

Yeasayer are also opening up both dates, playing a normal set – as far as we know.
