Listen to the beginning of Smith Westerns’ take on “American Girl” and see if you can place the opening. Is it just me, or are you also waiting for Julian Casablancas to come in with the line “Lassssst nighhhhhht!” Maybe it’s just me. The rest of this song has its ups and downs, but at least the Smithy Westys tried to put their own stamp on the song. There is something to be said for that.
