Fireworks and synth-y day-glo beats have gone hand-in-hand since the inception of the music video, and ODESZA make full use of that association. Utilizing glitchy electronic flourishes and lush vocal samples, the production duo of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight (aka ODESZA) use their music as a backdrop to capture Christmastime in Guatemala when families set off “cuetes,” Spanish slang for firecrackers, as soon as midnight hits. Director Diego Contreras pairs the colorful, dream-like quality of the music with images of children running along streets while fireworks explode in the sky. Check out the video below.
