Fresh off two of last years most accomplished albums, Phil Elverum’s Mount Eerie project stopped by Washington, DC’s Folger Theater for an intimate performance of the title track of the latter of the two records, “Ocean Roar.” Stripped to an arrangement for three voices and an acoustic guitar, Elverum and co., are able to conjure out the ghostly nature of the song in this empty room. Elverum caps it off by saying “We just played an absurd concert to nobody,” but for all his self-deprecating skepticism, he was still able to create something hauntingly beautiful.
