When you’re a mostly instrumental band like Mogwai you can do pretty much anything you want with your videos since you don’t have to try to relate the theme of it to the theme of the song. The new video for “Rano Pano” certainly takes things in a completely unexpected direction.
It starts off as a British indie film-looking short about a couple of close grown-up male friends having a night in watching movies, eating pizza and getting drunk. As the night wears on the events only get stranger as the guys get drunk and start living out their childhood sci-fi fantasies. I won’t say more than that because I don’t want to spoil it (though I’m not sure that I could if I wanted to).
