How do you possibly cover one of the most influential and popular electro tracks of all time? Benoit & Sergio know it’s not exactly possible, so their take on Daft Punk’s seminal “Around the World” is a funky house jam that pays homage in a tangental way. Speaking with Dazed Digital, the band commented about the cover, “we would never try to redo or ‘compete’ with a track like ‘Around the World.’ Our cover is so far away. This is a fragile electrofunk take on a really happy dance track.” With that in mind, Benoit & Sergio definitely put their own spin on the classic, creating something both unique and reverential. The cover will be released exclusively on vinyl through Double Standard Records, backed with a cover of Sade’s “Sweetest Taboo.” (via Discobelle)
