Nothing about “Blue Movie” is easy. Musically, the beats are complex words and the flow comes fast, making it a disorienting, yet exhilarating, roller coaster. Visually, the video follow suit, feeling sensually disruptive. Often times you don’t know what you are looking at, yet it all seems kind of hot. Beans knows that every ying has a yang, that lust and revulsion come from the same place, and that our listening tastes often are just attracted to what sounds different as they are to what sounds pleasing.
Jon Leone’s video gets everything right. Or wrong. We like it, either way. End It All is out now on Anticon.
