There is no set release date or album title for the Veronica Falls album, but being a Londoner who has tracked these guys and girls for a while now, it’s still exciting to know that they’ve now made the step up onto Bella Union in the UK and Slumberland in the US for their debut album, which will see release this Fall. (Though as a Londoner, and a Brit, I shouldn’t really use the word “Fall” – it’s Autumn!).
Anybody who has heard the best of the material they’ve released so far (“Beachy Head,” “Found Love In A Graveyard”) will know that they pack a killer doom-fuzz kick, owing a heavy debt to the likes of The Velvet Underground, while adding a 60s pop stance in the form of their guy-girl vocal interplay. And those who have seen Veronica Falls perform live recently will know that they’re playing with more intent than ever before, which hopefully has carried over to their album.
For the uninitiated, we’ve hooked you up with MP3s of the two aforementioned tracks below.
