U2 to sell 360 tour stages as venues

Anyone who has seen the U2 360 tour can attest to the majestic sight the stage setup was (check out some photos here). Hell, I just drove by Anaheim Stadium a couple weeks back and thought aliens had invaded. So, in an effort to be green, or to just be plain awesome, U2 is actively looking for buyers of their stage setup to convert them into permanent venues.

“It’s certainly our intention to see these things recycled into permanent and usable ventures,” U2 tour director Craig Evans says. “They’re something you can put up on a waterfront and become an instant skyline icon.” No specifics about potential buyers or markets were readily available.

Three of these “claws” were constructed, but U2 only owns the structures, and any buyers will have to supply their own lighting, sound, and video equipment. But, for the highest bidders, the reward could be well worth it as they would now own one of the most recognizable concert venues in the world. More on this as it develops.
